Chapter 22

The vampire sat on the couch, waiting for the search party to return. His arm was finally healed and his scratches were gone. He was also back to his normal, short self. He had used the remaining energy from Kyouka’s blood to increase the rate of healing. As for where he had been, well, he hid in the deep recesses of the forest. He had heard Satori looking for him, but with his excess power he hid his presence. It had been difficult for him to hide out for so long, and he had done so for a variety of different reasons. The plainest was that he didn’t want to be taken care of, hence the recovery in the dark, deep forest. The next, which anyone could’ve guessed except for Kyouka, is that he didn’t want to look pathetic in front of her nor did he want to feel guilty about how much he had hurt her. The next reason was that he didn’t want to admit he had been hurt so badly by Satori.
And all these reasons added up and outweighed the reasons to reveal himself to them sooner. He was unprepared, nervously twiddling his fingers and spinning things on the table. He had no idea what to say to them. He thought a ‘Hey guys!’ would be slightly appropriate, but then again it would make him sound like a jerk. So he paced and he sat and he stood and he twirled things in little circles, trying to make a long speech out of a few seconds. He was completely unprepared of what happened next.

Satori, Kyouka, and Trinity rushed in, carrying the boy. Satori had informed them moments later that the people who they thought they had lost were not totally lost after all. Hiding the boy from those people was important. They noticed the vampire while they were passing him, before his mind could work to say anything. It took them all a few seconds to realize, the vampire was back. They all stop in their tracks and stare at each other, each too surprised to speak. Finally, the silence was broken.
“Where the fuck were you!?” Satori yelled at him.
“Eh…” The vampire replied. “Sorry about that.”
“Stupid!” Kyouka says. Satori and Kyouka walk into one of the rooms on the first floor to put the boy in. Then Trinity turns to the vampire.
“Don’t worry, everyone missed you a lot.” Trinity says and follows Kyouka and Satori into the room.
After a few moments, he decides to see what the fuss was about. He entered the room to see the boy laying on his back on the bed with the three gathered around him. The vampire finally notices the boy and is surprised. He walks up to him quickly and begins turning him over onto his stomach for unknown reasons.
“What are you doing?” Kyouka asks. The vampire does not reply, and once he is done, he backs away. Suddenly, Trinity knocks over the vase on the nightstand next to the bed, breaking it. The boy suddenly wakes up from the loud noise and in an instant spreads gigantic wings, knocking back Satori, Trinity, and Kyouka. The vampire, inches away from the gigantic flapping wings smiles. He finally fits in.
