The Monster Book Chapter 2

Chapter 2
Magic

A few seconds of quiet passed as the girl holds the door shut. Then suddenly the door is hit hard. Another few seconds pass and as the door is attacked again she lets go of it and backs away. "I hope it's strong enough to hold him." She says as she rushes down the stairs. She quickly changes her clothes into more comfortable ones than the witch's outfit and then she grabs the book. Then she runs out the door, the vampire still banging on the door and walls upstairs.
She jogs down the road in the middle of the forest for about a mile until she gets to a small train station. The last train is about to arrive so she buys a ticket and waits on the bench. "I wonder if he's gotten out by now." She says to herself. The last train arrives and she immediately boards. The train only waits a few minutes before continuing it's journey. "I'm sure Obaa-chan will explain everything." She says, grasping the book tightly. She almost falls asleep on the train as they reach the other side of the mountain, where she should get off. She quickly wakes up and gets off the train right before it leaves. "I guess there isn't any going back home for tonight." She says. "But I'm glad that boy… or vampire, whatever he was, wasn't able to attack me." She begins walking to her Obaa-chan's house, about two miles away from the train station.
Once she gets to the house, she knocks on the door and her Obaa-chan almost immediately answers it. "Obaa-chan! I didn't know you were up this late." She says, thoroughly surprised.
"It isn't very often I stay up this late." She answers slowly, yawning. "What are you doing here so late, Kyouka-chan?"
"I was wondering if you could explain this book to me." She says, holding out the book.
Her Obaa-chan gasps. "Come in. Where did you find that? Did you use it?" She asks frantically as she leads Kyouka into the house.
"I found it in a box in the attic and I read the spell with the page of notes on it and a wind started in the house." She explains quickly.
"Oh, dear. This is quite severe. You summoned creatures from another world." Her Obaa-chan answers.
"Creatures? From another world? How is that possible, Obaa-chan?" She asks half-jokingly, thinking her Obaa-chan is playing a trick on her.
"This is serious, child. You have summoned spirits that do not belong in this world. In the world they come from, all they learn is pain, war, and destruction and that cannot be tolerated in this world. You must find all of them and gather them so you can send them back to where they once came from." Obaa-chan says.
"What kind of creatures will I find?" She asks, curious.
"There will be seven: a vampire, a werewolf, an imp, a lycanthrope, a demon, a gargoyle, and an undead." Obaa-chan says.
"Well, I already know where the vampire is…" She thinks, not really taking the situation too seriously. There is a pause in conversation. "Obaa-chan, I don't have a way to get home. I took the last train to get here." She says. "May I please stay the night?"
"Yes, you can, although it is still a little messy since we moved in just recently." Obaa-chan answers.
"That's fine." Kyouka says as she leaves to find a room that she can sleep in. "Goodnight, Obaa-chan. Thank you for letting me stay." She says, peeking her head around the corner.
"Goodnight." Obaa-chan answers back. She also heads to her room and they are both asleep within a few minutes.
