Literature Text

It was simple, my phone just had no service. The text to my parents hadn't gone through. Why? I had no idea. Maybe because I was inside? That must be it. I ignored it for a few more minutes, after all, we were about to head out for the night. After my group disbanded and everyone went their separate ways, I resumed trying to call my mom to tell her I would be at Four Hills in thirty minutes. Nothing.
I was already an hour late and I was sure that my parents would be worried about how I hadn't contacted them, but Ruben got out of work an hour and a half ago and I was sure he was already home. I was to take the bus after class that day for the first time. Now, I had ridden the bus to and from campus for a few months, but it had never been dark before. I was a bit nervous. I turned up my new David Archuleta CD on my iPod. Yes, I do listen to David Archuleta. Get over it.
I boarded the bus and was sure my mom would be on the other side of the route.
The sky was overcast as the sun slipped under the horizon behind the dark grey. I watched as the eerie dim lights of the bus flickered on overhead. I rested my head on the plaid backpack sitting in my lap as the song "Elevator" came on. It spoke to me and I began humming to it, attempting to calm my anxiety. It worked, for the time being. I ran over in my head how I was going to write this all down after I got home.
I hopped off the bus at my stop, but I saw no Highlander. As carefully as I could, I marched down the steep gravel hill to the parking lot in front of the dry cleaner's I can't recall the name of at this moment. It was dark and cold and just a bit creepy. After a few minutes, the bus left its station and continued on its way. Just in time to make me feel reassured, the white Highlander I knew so well pulled into the parking lot. My head screamed with joy and I took Elevator off of repeat before climbing in the vehicle and told the harrowing story to my mom.

It turns out that my phone hadn't been turned off in so long, mostly because I actually use it, that it hadn't reset in a few weeks. All I had to do was turn it off for a minute and turn it back on. Simple solutions make me angry.
The freaky as frick night I had. Btw, some things that weren't mentioned:
It was 6:30 at night when I got on the bus.
Ruben was still at work lol (could've just gone to his office).
